The downfall of the world economy is very likely hurting you as much as everybody else. Pet owners are likely to feel even more pain as they literally have one ore more mouths to feed other than the human members of their families, of course. The price of pet supplies is going up just like the cost for everything else. It doesn’t look like the economy will recover any time soon even though Obama managed to get US politicians to print even more money; inflation is likely to hit the average household hard for the next couple of years.

The best you can do to make sure that your loved pets continue to eat healthy is to find a supplier online and stock up on pet food as soon as possible. Don’t delay or you may face the possibility of losing your best friend if you can’t afford the necessary supplies in the next year. Think ahead, and prepare yourself in order to minimize the chances of losing your pet.

Once you’ve got your parrot, it will become your immediate family member for a long time, so if you’re really concerned about your parrot, you should be very sure that your parrot gets the best cages you could get.

Seeing how his bird cage will be his home for the most part of his life (unfortunately, leaving even the best trained parrots fly freely through the house poses a real danger to them, or is a potential risk for them to run away), hence choosing the appropriate parrot cages is a very important task

The first criteria of choosing the appropriate parrot cages should obviously be the bird cage’s size. The parrot cages’ size should be directly proportional to the size of the parrot. By sticking a large macaw in a smaller cage will not only make your parrot uncomfortable, but it will in fact affect its health and mood in a negative way, for more obvious reasons.

Despite this, it doesn’t mean that you should get small cages for smaller birds either. Actually, the bigger the cage, the happier the parrot! Of course, your home’s design might not permit getting the largest bird cages out there, but try finding a room that has a lot of space for a parrot cage and place it there rather than on “traditional”, smaller places.

And even if you managed to get the largest of parrot cages in the market, make sure you remember it is still a CAGE. Giving your parrot some freedom to fly around (around the house, making sure all windows or doors are closed) will do tons of good for his liveliness, mood and health. Try keeping an eye for discounts on parrot cages too because this will certainly save you a hell of a money.

While choosing the appropriate parrot cages, the parrot cages’ shape is also another crucial factor. You might have noticed that most traditional cages have a cylindrical shape, having a greater height than their length.

It is very bad for your parrot, since it’s unable to fly around (they can’t fly straight up or straight down, can they?).

Vertical cages have their advantages, allowing the parrots to climb up and down between bars, offering a better compensation for the fact that they can’t fly as freely.

The materials from which the bars and cage door are made of is one very crucial consideration when you’re choosing the appropriate parrot cages. Some bird cages are made of low-quality plastics or toxic metals and since most parrots have the bad habit of chewing everything around them, the negative effects these cages could cause are pretty obvious. Not only that, the quality of bird cages also reflects the atmosphere of your overall home decoration.

Although these are the one of the main parameters you should focus on whenever you’re choosing a parrot cage, you might want to pay more attention to further details, how easily are parrot cages maintained (it depends alot on the material used for the cage), the ability to attach perches and accessories directly to the cage, its bar spacing (you should make sure that your parrot won’t get caught between the bars in case they are too tight) and having a secure door.

The main point is, you should see things from your parrot’s stand point whenever you’re choosing the appropriate parrot cages, try to ask yourself what can you do to make it more comfortable and happy. But make sure you also don’t put a hole on your wallet when you choosing the appropriate parrot cages, it’s best you do a research on the best offers on parrot cages for sale in the market before anything else!

Do you plan to install a water pond for koi fish? Having these magnificent decorative fish in your backyourd pond is very rewarding and it is not as difficult as you might think. If you do the right things koi have a long life span getting really huge – the bigger ones are of the most value. Follow these tips to plan your garden pond for fish properly so your decorative koi fish will live and make you happy for a long time.

Depth is important

Depth of your fish pond is very important. You pond should be at least 4 feet deep, however it is recommended to give your fish six or even 8 feet deep pond. This will ensure that your fish are safe from raccoons, pet kitties and other animals who can empty your pond. Deeper fish pond also helps to keep water cool in summer months

Give them sapce

Small ponds are no good for koi. Remember, with time will grow in size and numbers and they will need a big space. Also there are so many color variations of koi, that later you will probably want to buy additional fish. So it is better to create a large garden pond from the start than rebuild it later. About ten thousand gallons is a good size for a koi pond, bigger would be even better.

Provide some heating in colder months

Unlike tropical fish, koi are resistant cold; however you should never let your pond freeze all the way. Installing a proper pond heater will always keep an opening in the ice. Also keep in mind, that koi only grow when the water is warm, so with a heater your fish will grow faster

Give your fish shade

When selecting where to place your pond, make sure it is out of direct sunlight. Also keeping water plants like water lilies in your pond can be very beneficial - not only they add beauty to the overall landscape, but they also provide shade for the fish. However, you should avoid building your koi pond in aria with many trees. Cleaning a fish pond of fallen leaves is no fun.

Plan to install a bird net

There are many birds of prey that would love to steal your koi. Don’t give them the opportunity; plan your pond location so it is possible to protect it with a net.

Don’t poison your fish

When landscaping your pond keep in mind that you should not use any insecticides or herbicides so they can get into the wate. Even a small amount of common garden poison can kill your beautiful fish.

Pumps, filtration systems and other fish pond accessories

Several accessories are absolutely essential for a healthy koi pond. Ideally you will have to invest into a water pump, filtration system, pond water aerator and an ultraviolet sterilizer. If the water in your pond is still, your koi might feel unwell. Koi pond filtration systems are pricey, so as an alternative you can make your own homemade filters.

All of us have done it. Our cute, little furry friend is practically smiling at us from below the kitchen table. Their ears are perked and their tail is wagging. We know what our dog is after. Just a tiny tidbit from dinner would be delicious, right? What could it hurt? It is just a bite or 2 after all.

Hold Fido’s ears he will not want to hear this. A dogs diet actually should not contain table scraps. Our food is just that…for people. A dogs nutritional needs are not the like as a humans. For sure, we eat some of the same things, but giving your pet food from the table is one of the largest mistakes for your pet.
A poor diet even shows up out in the yard. When your dogs diet is not at its best, your pets outputs will be larger in size, smell, and mess. The benefits of choosing a healthy diet for your dog will be noticeable in your pets health, as well as, during those walks around the block.

There are a a couple of occasions when a supplement or treat from the kitchen may be ok, but never in excess. Speak to your veterinarian about healthy snacks for your dogs diet. If you simply must continue feeding Fido at the table, many veterinarians recommend you give your pet ice cubes or pieces of carrot to munch on between scheduled feeding times. Supplying your pet these healthy choices to pizza and cupcakes gives you the freedom to choose a healthy and nutritious snack for your dogs diet.

The next time your pet begins eyeing your food, what you want to do is redirect their attention. Do not use your table scraps. Instead give your dog a refreshing ice cube to munch on. If you follow these steps, you will know that you are doing your best to give pet a high quality diet.

If your cat has diabetes then cat care is important to your pets health. You will need to take the appropriate steps to make sure your pet can lead a normal life. It is unfortunate that pet cats have there own form of diabetes. It is important as a pet owner you learn how this will affect your pet and how you can help your cat lead a normal healthy life.

There are two types of cat diabetes, that could affect you pet. The first type is caused by the lack of production of insulin, while the second type is the inability of the cats body to process insulin as it should do. just like in humans, diabetes can affect a cat at any age. But it normally appears in a pet in its later years.

Your cat will start to display symptoms that will tell you there is something wrong. These symptoms are very similar to the one in humans, You would start to notice your cat would require more fluid and would also urinate more. Because of your pets inability to process any glucose, then you will start to notice some weight loss.

Other symptoms you may see your cat are vomiting, loss of appetite and general weakness. Diabetic cats also start to have poor skin and coat condition, as well as breathing problems

If your pet cat starts to display the above symptoms, it would be very wise of you to take your pet to your local vet. This way you can have your cat tested for sugar levels in there blood as well as in their urine. it is better to have both tests done, because any cat that feels under any form of stress, will show a spike in there blood sugar levels. By having both tests done, you will be able to confirm if your pet cat really has diabetes.

There is no cure for your cats diabetes as of yet. There diabetes can be controlled through a various means, and for cats it is done by diet and weight control. Giving your pet a diet high in fiber and carbohydrates would be ideal for diabetic cats, especially if they are over weight.

By using this type of diet, you will control your cats weight and blood sugar levels. There are also some oral medications available that your trusted vet may recommend. These should help to maintain a suitable blood sugar level.

Owners of diabetic cats, also will need to monitor their pets glucose and insulin levels. This is for those pet owners who will have to give there cats insulin injections for their diabetes. But be warned, you need to be carful to avoid giving an overdose of insulin as this will be fatal to your pet.

Cat care and diabetes should always go together, this will ensure that your pet can lead a normal healthy life. If you provide the right care for diabetic cats, then you will still have many happy years to come with your pet.

Cats eyes have often been used in horror films. But as a pet owner, you will know that the cats stare is really the complete opposite of what is portrayed in films. That is why cat eye care, is so very important for you to know.

How do cats say I love you? well this is through their eyes, of course. This is why you should never be frightened by there gaze. So how does this work? First of all, the cat stares at you for a long time. And after that, it blinks its eyes slowly. Some people call this the cats kiss. But you should also know that this is your cats way of showing you that it loves you.

But how do you return the favor? This is easy, all you need to do is follow your cats lead. Stare at it for a long time and then slowly blink your eyes. See? Cats eyes have also be used for romantic films as well.

Do not believe the horror films you see. Cats do not and never have had a third eye. Their eye sight is really far better than a humans. Instead of a third eye, what cats have is a third eyelid. This is called a nictitating membrane.

This inner eyelid protects the eyes of the cat from harm and also from dryness. You will always notice that when a cat is sick, this membrane will be some what closed. This should always alarm enough for you to call your vet or get your cat to them fast as possible.

But this third eyelid will also show once a cat is happy. So you will know what kind of mood your cat is in just by looking at the membrane.

You should always observe the pupil of your feline friend. A change in size of one of the pupils can often be an indication of an inflammation. It can also be a sign of a kind of a neurologic, disorder, this is called Horner’s Syndrome. Or worse, it can also indicate tumors or injuries in the central nervous system.

Never believe what others say that cats are color blind. They do see some colors. They may not see them as clear as human do, but its not true that they cannot see any colors at all.

Cats can also see clearly over long distances. There vision is very different from peoples. There vision will blurry if they are looking at objects that are very close to them.

Yes it is true, cats do have the nocturnal vision. But they can not see in complete darkness. Do you see the muscles on their iris that surround the pupils of their eyes? They are constructed in a way that it narrows into a vertical split when they are exposed in the bright lights. And it opens fully when they are in a quite dim light.

This feature of the cat may be traced back to their roots. They can use this feature to hunt for food during the night, that is if they were left out in the jungle or left with no one to care for them.

So you must forget about the horror movies that you have seen. Now it is time to put some effort into your cats eye care. Never let a minor ailments worsen. Always call your vet immediately when you think there is something not right or amiss. You do not want your cat to lose their sight or even worse lose their lives. Just remember it is always better to be safe than blind.
