Ivy League College Admissions

Do you want to attend an Ivy League college? If so, you need to be aware that the admissions standards are just about as difficult as they come. Unfortunately, not everybody can gain admittance to an Ivy League school. For those who are interested, there are many details of the admission process to be aware of.

First and foremost, every Ivy League college has an acceptance rate of less than 21 percent. This means that only one in every five students is accepted to the college. Harvard has the lowest acceptance rate at nine percent with Cornell on the high end at 20.5 percent.

Moving on, the majority of students who attend an Ivy League college were in the top 10 percent of their high school class. In fact, 95 percent of the student body at Yale and Princeton were in the top 10 percent. This number dips a bit to 87 percent at Cornell and Dartmouth.

As you can imagine, Ivy League colleges want to see top notch SAT scores as well. To give yourself the best chance of admittance, scoring at least 2,000 on a 2,400 point scale is a must.

Finally, do not forget about extra curricular activities. Although Ivy League schools want to admit students with a high degree of intelligence, they also want them to be well rounded. Students who are involved with sports, student government, and other groups will improve their chances.

All in all, Ivy League colleges are the most difficult to get into. With that being said, thousands of lucky students get accepted each year. Are you going to be next?
