Careful about what you post online if you don’t want to regret it in the future
By Alpha • Aug 10th, 2008 • Category: EmploymentThe rise of the computer and the Internet has made it easy for many of us to share our daily adventures with friends and strangers. Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Flickr make it easy for us to post information about our latest adventurous including photos and videos.
Guess what! You new employee may be taking advantage of online services that allow for employment screening. In other words, your new employee may find those photos you posted on MySpace that show you having a hell of a time in Ibiza half naked and fully drunk. Believe it or not, this could cost you a new job or a promotion in your current job. Many people have already been burned because of information about their private lives that they have posted online. Don’t make the same mistake and show prudence on what kind of material you post on the Internet. Better to keep some things to yourself than share them with strangers no matter how innocent might seem to you now.
