Are you one of those people who throws your trash on the ground instead of a garbage can? If so, you need to change this right away. When it comes down to it, littering is harmful in many different ways. Not only is it a dirty habit, but it can harm the environment in the long run. While you may not think that littering is a huge problem, nothing could be further from the truth. Not only is the United States struggling with this, but the same holds true in other parts of the world as well. This is why the US has decided to hand out big fines to those who are caught littering.

Litter can harm both humans and wildlife. Animals can get tangled up in trash that is thrown on the ground or in lakes and rivers. Additionally, the same litter can also poison certain types of animals. In the end, this leads to dead animals and a continuing cycle.

Believe it or not, some people do not care if they litter. As long as they get rid of their trash, nothing seems to bother them. And this holds true for much more than a plastic water bottle. There are some who will throw large items, such as refrigerators and other household appliances, into the woods or a local body of water.

Overall, littering is one of the worst things that you can do to the environment. Is it really that hard to throw your trash in the can instead of on the ground? Remember, if you are caught littering you will be out several hundred dollars or more.
