Getting back to playing some tennis

I’ve been thinking about getting back to playing a bit of tennis for fun and fitness. I used to play every now and then on the weekends but I stopped when I decided to focus my energy on playing soccer. Now that I am a bit older and playing soccer is a bit too much effort, I am thinking of going back to playing non-contact sports such as tennis. The problem is that I have to purchase the proper equipment once again. In fact, I have to find some good and affordable tennis store because after suffering several knee injuries playing soccer, I will have to invest on some good tennis equipment. At the same time, however, I don’t want to pay a fortune for a pastime that will entertain me a couple of times a month.

Tennis ballsThere are two pieces of equipment that I need to invest in. One is a good pair of men’s tennis shoes and the other is a good racket. In terms of shoes, I have decided to buy a pair of the Prince MV4 shoe in Black. These are nice mid-range shoes that offer good ventilation, foot support and excellent traction. The show won’t improve my skills but it will ease the pressure on my knees which have been rather weekend from years of soccer playing and ACL injuries.

The last and probably most important item to purchase before hitting the court is a good quality racket. After browsing online for a bit, I decided to focus on the Babolat rackets and more specifically the Babolat AeroPro Drive Cortex+. This again is a mid-range racket with lots of features for minimizing vibration and increasing hit power. Babolat rackets have a filtering system that eliminates high frequency vibrations while preserving low frequency ones that are useful for improving player performance.

I am really looking forward to playing some tennis this weekend. I have even lined up a friend of mine who is going to help me get back into the game slowly. I think that for now I have purchased some quality equipment and if I decide to play more tennis later, then I will upgrade to a better pair of shoes and racket.
