Smart bombs in Vietnam

If you know anything about the Vietnam War, you may know that smart bombs were used time after time by the United States. Of course, this is not the only war in which these bombs were used. When it comes down to it, militaries from all over the world have found that smart bombs offer many benefits when it battle. Although they are not nearly as popular today as they were in Vietnam, there is still plenty of people discussing them.
Generally speaking, smart bombs in Vietnam were used for two reasons. First off, the United States military used them to enforce maximum damage to their target. But at the same time, one of the biggest benefits of a smart bomb is that it can spare civilian damage for the most part. In other words, a smart bomb can target a precise area without damaging a lot of surrounding homes, etc.
In the last few years of the Vietnam War, smart bombs were used more and more by the United States Air Force. The Air Force turned to smart bombs late in the war because they made it easy to target specific points without endangering the lives of innocent civilians. Additionally, a smart bomb made it easy for the Air Force to bring down a target with one mission; this was the case with the famous Thanh Hoa Bridge.
By the end of the Vietnam War, the United States was using smart bombs to their advantage on a regular basis. All in all, smart bomb technology helped the US to accomplish many missions while sparing civilians along the way.
