Weeki Wachee Springs is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the state of Florida; and that is saying a lot. Located in Weeki Wachee, this destination is easy to get to. With that being said, many people have no idea what Weeki Wachee Springs is all about.

Simply put, the main draw of this destination is to see the underwater mermaids. While there is no such thing as a real mermaid, this is about as close as you can get. Women dress up with fins on their legs, and can be viewed in the aquarium swimming around and putting on a show. As you can imagine, this is unlike anything that you would see at another tourist destination.

In addition to the live mermaids, Weeki Wachee Springs also consists of Buccaneer Bay, a water park that includes boat rides.

Weeki Wachee Springs opened in 1947, and has been going strong ever since. This tourist destination has achieved a lot of success over the years, and there is no reason to think that it will slow down. Although there are many tourist attractions in the state of Florida, none are as unique as the live mermaids and water park in Weeki Wachee Springs.
