The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNRF) is a 10-day event held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada and it is known as the Super Bowl of rodeo. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is the main organizer for the event which is the last one taking place for any rodeo season. Cowboys and cowgirls compete in a number of different events including bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie down roping, bull riding, and barrel racing. Interestingly, the last one is an event available exclusive to cowgirls.
Barrel racing is an event requiring strong riding skills. It is a race around 3 barrels positioned in a triangle pattern in the arena. The winner is the rider who completes the course at the fastest time. It may sound like an easy thing to do, but the distance between the barrels and the requirement to complete the course as fast as possible makes barrel racing a challenging event that not only requires an experienced and skilled rider but also a very athletic horse. This is definitely an event that I would love to watch given the opportunity to attend the WNFR.
WNFR tickets often sell out well before the main event takes place so anyone wishing to attend this rodeo event should be prudent to buy his/her tickets early. Especially, if he/she wants to get some of the better seats. Those sell out the fastest as you must have guessed by now.
