Knowledge is power

It was bound to happen some time; I just did not expect it to happen this soon. Meet the Spartans is a new movie coming out January 25th. It is a parody of the well known 2006 action movie 300 telling the heroic story of the Leonidas and his 300 Spartans who faced Xerxes’ huge Persian army invading Greece a long, long time ago. The Spartans kept the Persian’s at bay until they were betrayed by Ephialtes and were all killed after choosing not to retreat following Spartan custom.

Meet the Spartans is written and produced by the same people who have brought us Scary Movie, Date Movie and Epic Movie. These had some good (as in funny) moments but I don’t think that anyone would claim them to be great comedies. Still, I enjoyed watching them when I just wanted to turn my brain off and just entertain myself. That said, I expect Meet the Spartans to be more or less the same. Stupid comedy that may have some really funny parts. As you can see from the trailer below, the producers are making fun of many celebrities including American Idol surprise Sanjaya Malakar, Donald Trump and Britney Spears. Sean Macguire will be playing Leonidas leading his army of 13 men to face the brutal Persian army which apparently includes mercenaries such as Rambo, Ghost Rider and Shrek. Super babe Carmen Electra is also appearing in what appears to be the role of Leonida’s wife, Queen Gorgo; she looks really good in old Greek dress (then again, she always look good!)
