You might have problems with cockroaches in your home even if you keep it clean. We all know that cockroaches maybe the only living organisms to survive a Nuclear war but it might surprise you to know that cockroaches can eat dead things and including other dead cockroaches! And cockroaches are everywhere. In fact, you might have cockroaches in your living room right now without knowing it! They can hid in suitcases and clothing or a myriad of dark places. In this article I will explain a few methods on how to get rid of cockroaches.
How can you prevent cockroaches from setting camp in your home?
Always keep the kitchen clean; this way you can keep cockroaches away from the kitchen where most food resides! Keep food in sealed containers. If you want to clean a shelf, wash it off with soap. Make sure to empty the trash regularly and keep garbage away from your home.
What are some methods for getting rid of cockroaches?
Insecticide and cockroach bait: You can use insecticide designed to kill cockroaches. Consider calling pest control getting rid of cockroaches and other insects as a bonus. Trick cockroaches with specifically designed bait that is a gel containing poison mixed with food. You can buy these and place them in places where cockroaches are likely to inhabit.
Cockroach trap: Apply a layer of petroleum jelly in a jar. Then drop some waste food into the jar. You can keep it in a hidden area in your house where you saw at least one cockroach. Once the cockroaches touch the coating they will not be able to return, because of the slippery coating. Eliminate the contents of the jar and replace the coating and use the trap again.
Detergent powder solution: You can mix detergent powder in a cup of water and spray or just throw on the cockroaches. I think this simple solution of soap and water is the easiest thing to do but it requires taking the time to chase after the cockroaches on an individual basis. The good news are that you could kill cockroaches even with 2 or 3 drops of a mild soap solution. Turn this into a game something like a safari hunt without the guilt of killing endangered species.
Baking soda and white sugar: You can mix baking soda and white sugar then keep it in the cockroach-infested area. Cockroaches love to eat white sugar and at the same time inject some of the baking soda mixed with it. The soda will interact with the stomach acids of the cockroaches and kill them. If cockroaches feel pain, then they are certainly going to regret trespassing in your property.
I believe the above methods can help you to get rid of cockroaches and help you have some fun doing it. At the end of the day, the above techniques will allow you to enjoy a home free from cockroaches!
