From the wildfires in Greece to California, almost 2,000 Californians flee there homes as a state of emergency is declared. Two wildfires raged out of control in the southern part of California, the wildfires consumed more than 15,000 acres of land in the San Bernardino National Forest. With nearly 2,000 residents gone, 340 residents have been told that a mandatory evacuation is in effect.
1,200 residents of the Green Valley Lake area have already voluntarily left their homes, and the fires are far from contained, estimates suggest about 12 percent of the fires are contained. The good news is the fires are apparently moving away from residential communities “Right now, it doesn’t appear they’re in much danger,” said Forest service spokeswoman Carol Beckley.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (All of my futuristic movies have been hugely successful…) declared the state of emergency for San Bernadino County on Saturday. No fatalities have been reported.
