Comedy clubs are a bad choice for a first date

I have never met anyone who has been to a comedy club and didn’t have a good time. In fact, if I had the choice, I’d be there every night enjoying some stand up comedy. Unfortunately, however, one should note that comedy clubs are a bad choice for a first date; more precisely, I would stay away from them until after having brunch with her, if you know what I mean!

The problem with comedy clubs is that much of the comedians’ material is not necessarily funny. And when a comedian realizes that he is not getting enough laughs to win himself an invitation for another performance, he will immediately switch to a subject that is always funny. Yes, you guessed correctly; I am talking about sex and anything that has to do with the comedian’s and your private areas.

Yes, this kind of material is freaking funny. And yes, we all joke about the exact same things when hanging out with our buddies. But if you are out on a first date with a girl that you just met a few days ago and have only talked to for a few minutes over the phone, then sex jokes will make her feel very uncomfortable. If she doesn’t have a good time on the first date, then you are not going to get a second date. Needless to say, if you were planning on moving on the bases that same night, then you are just dreaming.

So, be advised that comedy clubs are a huge mistake for a first date. Consider instead meeting her for a coffee in the local Starbucks.
