Paul Potts may spend his days working as a mobile phone salesman but underneath it all he is a talented opera singer in disguise. At least this is what the world found out when he took a chance with an appearance on Britain’s got talent TV show. After surprising everybody with his first performance on the show singing Nessun Dorma it is no surprise that he went on to win the first prize of 100,000 GBP (about $215,000) and a chance to sing in front of Queen Elizabeth. But that is going to be the easy part; anyone who can get Simon Cowell smiling and applauding for him will consider a performance for the royalty as easy as cutting butter with a knife. That said, many people argue that Potts is actually a professional singer in disguise but they could not be more wrong. The truth is, and he is not hiding it, that he has attended some classes in Italy but saying that he reached this level of performance because of that is ridiculous. It would be similar to saying that after a couple of months of Kung Fu classes I can beat Jackie Chan with one hand tied behind my back.

But talk is cheap and nothing I write can do justice to Potts’ magnificent voice. So, here is the video of his very first performance on the show.
