Find your dream house with this online tool
By Alpha • May 9th, 2007 • Category: GeneralSince Google has opened their API for their maps software, programmers all over the world have been developing some very useful online tools with it. One such example is the house and apartment rental mashups of Google maps and Craigslist. One of those that stands out is housingmaps.com. This nifty tool will find the house and apartment listings available for rent and sale as posted on Craigslist and then show them on the map; this way, you can look at the listing and its surrounding location as photographed from an orbiting satellite. The housingmaps.com website covers some of the biggest cities in the United States and Canada including San Francisco, New York, Boston, Detroi, Los Angeles, Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto to name a few. It could definitely be more useful if it included more cities but considering that the tool is free we cannot be too demanding. I really like that you can sort listing according to price and that it even downloads and allows one to view any photos associated with the Craigslist listing. If you are looking for alternative web sites offering a similar service then consider visiting hnlhousing.com and mapskrieg.com.
